Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a new stoppage for the Agartala–Silchar–Agartala Express at Pencharthal (PEC) Railway Station in Tripura, a move aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and improving travel convenience for passengers.

The new stop was inaugurated on Monday at Pencharthal Railway Station in the presence of Tripura’s Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma and senior railway officials.

Under the revised schedule, Train No. 15663 (Agartala–Silchar) will halt at Pencharthal at 14:01 hours and depart at 14:03 hours. On the return journey, Train No. 15664 (Silchar–Agartala) will arrive at 13:13 hours and leave at 13:15 hours.

Railway officials said the Pencharthal stoppage marks an important step toward improving rail access for residents of North Tripura district and adjoining areas. The new halt is expected to ease travel, expand passenger options and improve connectivity to key destinations.

NFR officials added that the initiative reflects the railway’s broader effort to enhance passenger amenities, expand regional coverage and support socio-economic development through better transportation services across the Northeast.
