AGARTALA: Tripura chief electoral officer (CEO) Puneet Agarwal informed that approximately 7000 central forces personnel have been deployed in the state to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with more expected to arrive soon.

Briefing the media, Tripura CEO Puneet Agarwal stated that all polling booths in the state would be equipped with CCTV cameras, and live streaming would be conducted from a centralized control room to closely monitor the voting process.

He assured that comprehensive measures would be implemented to uphold the principles of free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections, highlighting that the initial round of electronic voting machine (EVM) checks had already been completed.

Furthermore, Agarwal mentioned that vulnerability mapping of all polling booths in Tripura had been finalized, emphasizing the meticulous planning undertaken to safeguard the electoral process.

The Lok Sabha polls for the Tripura West constituency are scheduled for April 19, coinciding with the by-election for the Ramnagar assembly seat.

Subsequently, the Tripura East constituency will undergo polling on April 26.

According to Agarwal, a total of 13.61 lakh voters are eligible to participate in the elections for the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat, while 45,669 voters will exercise their democratic rights in the Ramnagar bypoll.

Additionally, the East Tripura seat will witness 13.95 lakh eligible voters.

Agarwal also announced the establishment of an additional polling booth in the Kalagang area of Santirbazar in Tripura, where Bru refugees were resettled in January.

Currently, Tripura has 3349 polling stations in operation.
