Tripura: Five touts including two Rohingyas nabbed in Sepahijala
Agartala: Amid the impending Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Police detained two suspected Rohingya individuals along with three Indian accomplices in Sepahijala.
Rana Chatterjee, Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station told reporters that acting on a tip-off, they established a checkpoint resulting in the detention.
"Today, at our inter-district checkpoint at Uttam Bhakta Naka point, we intercepted a vehicle based on intelligence received", he said.

The police official added that upon thorough inspection, they discovered two Rohingya nationals accompanied by three Indian individuals.
"Initial questioning suggests they had ventured into the state for employment purposes," he said.

The Rohingya detainees were identified as Harul and Md Jahangir Alam, while the Indian counterparts were recognized as Md Faruk Mia, Abdul Kasesm, and Robel.
It has been reported that the Rohingyas did not have valid documents and the Indian nationals helped them enter the country.
An investigation is being carried out.
