Tripura CM surrounded by turncoat leaders with CPI(M) links: Pradyot Debbarma
Agartala: Tipra Motha Party founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Saturday claimed that Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha was surrounded by leaders who had started their political careers with the CPI(M) and later joined the BJP for better opportunities, and that his stance appeared “anti-Tiprasa.”
Debbarma was addressing a public meeting in support of the party’s candidate for the TTAADC elections in Kanchanpur.
“All BJP leaders are not bad. Many leaders in the BJP are well aware of the ground situation and understand our genuine concerns. But, unfortunately, our honourable Chief Minister is surrounded by leaders who had their initial political leanings with the CPI(M). They joined the BJP later. This is why the Chief Minister’s language is anti-Tiprasa, not anti-CPI(M),” said Debbarma.
He also named some BJP leaders and ministers whom he described as pragmatic in their political approach. Describing the TTAADC election as a significant challenge before the Chief Minister, Debbarma said, “It is an open secret that the Chief Minister has never faced a real challenge in his political career. This is the first time that the entire Tiprasa community is pitted against him. I have been insulted time and again. Now, I am being branded as insane as well. I believe that on April 12, the Tiprasa community will respond to these remarks.”
Urging voters not to be influenced by inducements, Debbarma said, “They will try to bribe you. Do not compromise your child’s future by getting influenced by such inducements. If you accept money and give them your votes, you will be kept poor for the next five years. This is the time to hold them accountable. Ask them why water connectivity is poor, why funds are not being provided for better education, and what they plan to do for the future of your children.”
Debbarma also claimed that if Tipra Motha fails to win the TTAADC elections, members of the tribal community would lose their protective safeguards.
“Do not forget the troublemakers who had protested against the Bru settlement. They killed Biswajit Debbarma. Parameshwar Reang and Pindalal Chakma were also killed by similar forces. No one was arrested because they enjoy protection. We have to keep in mind that the day the Tiprasa unite, our rule will be established,” he added.
