Tripura BJP MLA served with show-cause notice for alleged MCC violation

AGARTALA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bagbasa assembly constituency in Tripura, Jadab Lal Nath, has been served with a show-cause notice by assistant returning officer of North Tripura district for allegedly violating the model code of conduct (MCC) during polling for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Tripura East constituency.

Tripura BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath has been accused of misconduct at a polling station under Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency during voting hours on April 26.

The incident occurred at polling booth number 22 in Bagbasa, where Nath reportedly entered the premises and engaged in an alleged ‘inappropriate’ behaviour.

The Tripura chief election officer’s (CEO) office confirmed the incident.

It may be mentioned here that in March last year, Tripura BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath was caught on camera allegedly watching obscene videos on his mobile phone during an assembly session in the state.

In a separate incident on the same day, Tripura BJP leader Kajal Das allegedly assaulted a polling official.

A first information report (FIR) complaint was lodged by the assistant returning officer of North Tripura district at the Kadamtala police station.

According to reports, Das and his associates allegedly attacked the presiding officer of booth number 22.
