Agartala: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura on Saturday rejected the Tipra Motha's demand for the Home portfolio, calling the statement by Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma "childish and driven by emotion."

Tripura BJP vice-president Subal Bhowmik suggested the seasoned politician was likely "swayed by emotion" when speaking to the media, noting the remarks were unexpected.

Reiterating that portfolio allocation is the Chief Minister's prerogative, Bhowmik likened Debbarma's demand to a disgruntled cricket fan claiming they could have scored a century.

Bhowmik then advised Debbarma to prioritize his existing responsibilities, specifically pointing to the recent attack on a 'Mann Ki Baat' event in his own Asharambari constituency that the Minister should first address.

Regarding alleged police inaction, Bhowmik asserted that steps have been taken in all cases, despite some delays due to complexities, and emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining peace.

In closing, the BJP official thanked the state government for its decision to recruit over 400 people, welcomed the party's performance in the Bihar elections, and alleged that isolated incidents of violence are part of a conspiracy to obstruct the BJP's momentum in tribal areas.
