Tripura BJP cautions workers against ‘self-styled’ party president designate
Agartala: The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday cautioned its leaders and workers against a “self-styled party president designate” who has allegedly been attempting to establish contact with office-bearers at various organisational levels and gain access to sensitive internal information.
Party sources said the activities of the individual came to the notice of the state headquarters after he reportedly approached several leaders and workers, claiming authority that was not sanctioned by the party. The matter prompted the party to issue a formal warning to prevent the spread of misinformation and safeguard organisational discipline.
In a statement, the BJP said the election and appointment of the party president and other office-bearers are conducted strictly in accordance with the party’s constitution and through a defined, transparent organisational process. Any attempt to operate outside this framework, the party said, amounts to a serious breach of discipline.
Acting on the directions of the state BJP president, all district presidents, mandal presidents and party workers have been instructed to remain vigilant and refrain from engaging with any individual or group involved in unauthorised activities, propaganda or the dissemination of misleading information, the statement said.
The party made it clear that it would not tolerate any form of indiscipline or unconstitutional activity and urged workers not to establish contact with unauthorised persons claiming positions or influence within the organisation.
Reaffirming its commitment to organisational discipline and unity, the BJP expressed confidence that its workers would continue to function with faith in the party constitution and established processes to further strengthen the organisation. It warned that appropriate organisational action would be initiated against those found violating party rules.
It has to be mentioned here that the tenure of incumbent party president Rajib Bhattacharjee who also happens to be the party Rajya Sabha MP expired already. Efforts were earlier made to appoint successor Bhattacharjee last year but due to multiple reasons and internal disagreements, the process got postponed.
