Tripura: Alleged security lapse in PM Modi event, MLA 'breaches' barricade
Agartala: A serious security lapse has reportedly occurred at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event at Udaipur’s Matabari after several videos surfaced showcasing local MLA Abhisek Debroy breaching the barricade to enter a space which was in close proximity to the site where the main rituals were being performed.
The MLA was seen indulging in an exchange of words with the on-duty police officer who had been trying to prevent the crowd from proceeding forward.
According to sources, barricades had been established in two entry points. And, wherever possible roadside bamboo fenced viewing areas had been established. The MLA entered with a lot of people breaching the security protocols.
However, no official statement has been issued so far by the state government.
The Prime Minister arrived here in Tripura and inaugurated the new infrastructure developed surrounding the temple under the centrally sponsored scheme. A total of Rs 51 crore had been spent for the temple’s complete makeover. Apart from inaugurating the temple, the Prime Minister also offered prayers at the five centuries old temple established by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya.
The Prime Minister landed here in MBB airport Agartala on a special India Air Force aircraft. From there, he reached Palatana helipad in Udaipur through a chopper. After the event was over, the Prime Minister departed the state.
