Tripura: 39 IndiGo flights cancelled at MBB Airport; authorities ensure passenger support
Guwahati: Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport (MBB) Director Krishan Mohan Mehra stated on Wednesday that 39 IndiGo flights were cancelled at Tripura’s MBB Airport between November 29 and December 9, causing inconvenience to passengers.
The Airport Director said the airport authority took several measures to reduce the impact of these cancellations.
"The airport team, in coordination with CISF, other airlines, and stakeholders, increased seating capacity in and outside the terminal building, as many passengers were unable to return home. Food, drinking water, and other essential support were provided, and toilet maintenance and cleanliness were enhanced to manage the situation efficiently," Mehra added.
He also noted that, according to IndiGo, refunds for all cancelled flights up to December 9 have been processed, and passengers’ luggage has been delivered to their homes.
The airline confirmed that no baggage was left behind in Agartala.
Mehra highlighted that the On-Time Performance (OTP) of flights currently operating at MBB Airport has reached 100% as of December 7.
He added that on December 10, IndiGo introduced additional flights from Agartala to Delhi to meet passenger demand.
The Airport Director further stated that the airport team worked round-the-clock during the disruption and extended ATC watch hours to accommodate delayed flights.
