Agartala: In the early hours of Sunday, police at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura arrested 23 Bangladeshi nationals who were attempting to travel to Chennai illegally.

Tapas Das, the Officer-in-Charge at Agartala Railway Station, informed reporters that a tip-off alerted the authorities about the arrival of a large group of Bangladeshi nationals.

In response, the BSF, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and other agencies secured the railway station, blocking all entry and exit points.

"Initially, we detained 10 individuals on suspicion. Subsequently, the BSF detained 7 more, and ultimately, we detained all 23 Bangladeshi nationals," said OC Das.

A case has been registered against the detainees for illegal entry into Tripura and attempting to travel to Chennai.

The police have produced them before the court, seeking police remand.
