Missing minor girl from Tripura rescued in Rajasthan after nine months
AGARTALA: A minor girl, who had been missing for nine months from the Khowai district of Tripura, was rescued from a village in Rajasthan, police officials reported.
One individual, identified as Ashok Kumar Choudhury, was arrested in connection with the case.
The 16-year-old girl, hailing from the Singicherra area under Khowai police station in Tripura, had disappeared from her native area in September 2023.
After months of investigation, a joint operation by the Tripura police and the local police in Rajasthan successfully traced her location.
She was found in a village near Jaipur on May 11.
The police investigation revealed that the girl had travelled to the village without informing her family.
A local woman from Rajasthan had reportedly assisted her in reaching the village.
The minor was found residing at Ashok Kumar Choudhury's home.
Choudhury was subsequently arrested on charges of abduction.
He was presented before the Khowai district court on Thursday and has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
