Tripura: Five alleged drug peddlers arrested in Agartala with brown sugar

Agartala: Tripura Police arrested five alleged smugglers on Friday for allegedly selling brown sugar near MBB College in Agartala city. A huge quantity of the narcotic drug was also seized during the operation.

Sanjit Sen, Officer-in-Charge of East Agartala Police Station, informed reporters that they conducted raids in Shivnagar and Kalyani areas acting on a tip-off.

The raids led to the apprehension of the suspects and the confiscation of approximately 16 grams of brown sugar.

"A scooty belonging to the suspects was also seized. The seized brown sugar has an estimated street value of Rs 10,000. We received information yesterday regarding drug peddling near MBB College. Based on this tip, we conducted the raid and apprehended the accused," said OC Sen.

The arrested individuals are Biswajit Nama, Joel Miya, Sujit Saha, Liton Das, and Biki Tanti.

"These individuals are alleged to be involved in supplying drugs in the college vicinity. An NDPS case has been registered against them, and they will be produced in court for police remand," he added.
