Agartala: In a proactive move against malaria transmission, the National Insect-Borne Disease Control Scheme has launched a comprehensive effort across various districts of Tripura.

Led by the Department of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine, the initiative aims to curb the spread of malaria through strategic measures. A significant distribution of long-lasting insecticidal net (LLIN) took place across key districts.

West Tripura saw 540 nets provided, followed by a substantial allocation of 12,845 nets in Sepahijala district, and 545 nets in Khowai district.

Gomati district received the highest allocation with 79,024 nets, while North Tripura received 16,706 nets. Additionally, Unakoti district received 1,178 nets, and South Tripura benefited from a distribution of 1,29,087 nets.

“In tandem with the distribution efforts, Asha workers have embarked on a door-to-door campaign. These frontline health workers are not only distributing nets but also conducting blood tests for malaria detection", a health official.

The official added, "Through the collection of blood samples on slides, they are facilitating early diagnosis and prompt treatment. Moreover, the Asha activists are playing a crucial role in raising awareness about malaria prevention measures. Armed with informative advice, they are educating households on effective strategies to combat the disease, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures.”
