AGARTALA: CPI-M leader Jitendra Chaudhury has officially lodged a complaint with chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, urging action against Tripura BJP candidate Kriti Singh Debbarma.

The complaint stems from Debbarma’s alleged derogatory characterization of CPI-M as a “party of killers”.

In a letter addressed to the chief election commissioner (CEC), CPI-M leader Jitendra Chaudhury, recounted an incident that occurred on April 8 in Fatikroy of Unakoti district of Tripura.

According to Jitendra Chaudhury, Kriti Devi Debbarman, the BJP candidate from Tripura East parliamentary constituency, made “unfounded remarks” labelling CPI-M as the “CPI-M manush khuner party”, insinuating its involvement in violence against individuals.

Jitendra Chaudhury underscored that such baseless accusations against a nationally recognized party like CPI-M violate the model code of conduct (MCC).

Moreover, he pointed out that Debbarma, who herself is under investigation in a murder case by the CBI, failed to disclose this information in her nomination papers, thereby contravening electoral regulations.

Expressing his disapproval of Debbarma's conduct, Tripura CPI-M leader Jitendra Chaudhury asserted his commitment to refrain from engaging in such unwarranted mudslinging during election campaigns.

He urged the CEC to take appropriate action against Debbarma for her derogatory allegations, which allegedly violate the model code of conduct (MCC).
