Form panel to curb infiltration: Tripura MLA urges Amit Shah
Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA from Tripura, Ranjit Debbarma, has addressed a letter to union home minister Amit Shah, urging him to set up a high power committee to prevent the increasing infiltration of foreign nationals into Tripura.
In his letter, MLA Debbarma expressed concern about the growing number of foreigners entering India through the India-Bangladesh border, exploiting a weak security system.
He specifically mentioned a significant rise in infiltration incidents in Tripura in recent days.
Debbarma criticized the Mobile Task Force for their ineffective role, contrasting it with the commendable efforts of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Tripura.
He noted that the GRP has been successful in detecting illegal foreigners and seizing contraband.
Recently, the North Tripura District Police at Churaibari Police Station detained 23 foreign nationals from Bangladesh, identified as Muslim Rohingya from Myanmar.
The MLA pointed out that many Rohingya Muslims, residing in camps in Bangladesh under the patronage of the Bangladesh government, have entered Indian territory.
He mentioned specific camps, such as Cox's Bazar Balahali and Lambasia Rohingya camps, from where these individuals have migrated.
He further stated that these individuals have used Tripura as a corridor to spread throughout India, posing a threat to the country's security and sovereignty.
Debbarma highlighted that these illegal immigrants have settled in various regions of Tripura, including the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council under the Sixth Schedule, such as Chamanu in Longtharaivalley Sub-Division, Gandacharra in Gandacharra Sub-Division of Dhalai District, and Karbook and Shilacharri in Karbook Sub-Division of Gomati District.
He also mentioned that they have established their own settlements using forged documents.
In light of these concerns, Debbarma urged the immediate formation of a High Power Committee comprising the Administrative Secretary of the Home Department, the District Superintendent of Police, the District Magistrate and Collector, and the State Level Nodal Officer.
He emphasized the necessity of identifying and deporting these foreigners to their respective countries, similar to measures taken in Jammu and Kashmir.
The MLA concluded his letter by requesting prompt and effective action to address this issue, underscoring the importance of national security and sovereignty for India.
