Ex-Tripura deputy CM heads to Telangana to take oath as governor
Agartala: Jishnu Dev Varma, the newly appointed governor of Telangana and former deputy chief minister of Tripura, announced on Wednesday (July 31) that he plans to work towards the welfare of both Tripura and Telangana after assuming his new role.
Speaking to reporters before departing Agartala in Tripura for Telangana, Dev Varma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu for his appointment.
He noted, "This is the first time since independence that a governor has been appointed from Tripura."
He is set to take his oath of office and then travel to Delhi the following day for a meeting.

Reflecting on his new position, Dev Varma stated, "This is my first experience in the role of governor after serving as a minister."
"I look forward to seeing what lies ahead. As the first governor from Tripura, I am committed to promoting my home state and exploring opportunities for its development," he said.
"I will also focus on what can be done for the betterment of Telangana," the former Tripura deputy chief minister added.
