Election in Tripura East held peacefully, 80.32 % voter turnout recorded

Agartala: Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a record 80.32% voter turnout, marked by peace.

Under vigilant security, polling began at 7 AM and concluded with commendable participation.

CEO of Tripura, Puneet Agarwal, announced in a press conference that by 8 PM, the turnout had reached the impressive 80.32%.

He lauded the peaceful conduct of the election, noting minimal complaints which were promptly addressed.

The Tripura West Parliamentary poll also proceeded smoothly.

With 1664 polling stations in the Tripura East constituency, the electoral process commenced in March.

While most stations have closed, approximately 20 are still in progress, expected to conclude shortly. Final percentage results will be announced soon.

Despite overall tranquility, a complaint from Belonia in Jolaibari alleged voter obstruction, which, upon investigation, proved unsubstantiated.

However, two polling stations, Noting Lal Para Junior Basic School and Sadai Mohan Para Junior Basic School in Dhalai district, experienced voter boycotts.

Despite attempts by authorities to resolve grievances, concerns over road construction and other issues led to adamant refusal to participate.

These stations received a total of 649 and 1059 complaints, respectively.
