Agartala: In response to the recent resignation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Border Security Force (BSF) stationed in Tripura has issued an alert and deployed additional forces along the Tripura-Bangladesh border.

Tripura shares an 856 km long international border with Bangladesh.

A senior BSF official, who requested anonymity, confirmed that security has been tightened along the international border, and alerts have been issued to all personnel.

"We are closely monitoring the border. Given that our border is semi-porous and several areas are unfenced, we have significantly increased security measures," the official stated.

He further mentioned that additional forces have been deployed, with senior commanders overseeing security in the border areas.

"We have reinforced troops, particularly in regions prone to smuggling and infiltration. Surveillance has been intensified. Due to the ongoing developments in Bangladesh, the BSF is maintaining constant vigilance and close coordination with the Border Guards of Bangladesh at various levels," he added.

When asked about special directives concerning movement through the Integrated Check Post (ICP), the BSF official noted that no specific instructions have been issued so far.

"However, we have not received any reports or tips regarding infiltrations or drug smuggling," he concluded.
