During checking, a Suzuki Eeco van bearing registration number TR 01 CH 0353 allegedly attempted to evade the checkpoint and fled towards Udaipur via the Bishalgarh Bypass Road, prompting a chase by the joint team.

The vehicle was found abandoned near Kalkaliya High School around 0930 hrs. Officials said the area was cordoned off, and a search of the van led to the recovery of ten packets of Yaba tablets weighing about 10 kg and valued at approximately Rs 8 crore.

Three cartons of Etaddol 100/Tapentadol 100 mg tablets containing around 750 boxes, valued at about Rs 20,32,500, were also recovered.

The team additionally seized Rs 25,400 in cash and the Suzuki Eeco van, estimated to be worth Rs 1,50,000. The total value of the seizure has been put at Rs 8,21,78,650.

In a separate operation in Sonamura, BSF personnel seized 1 kg of Yaba tablets based on specific inputs, officials added.

The seized items and vehicle have been handed over to DRI Agartala for further legal proceedings.

Officials said the operations underline BSF’s continued efforts to curb narcotics smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border and highlight the coordination between BSF and DRI in countering cross-border drug trafficking networks.
