Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday said the BJP aims to expand its political footprint in the state, including in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and Assembly seats held by the opposition, through development-oriented politics and not through the use of force.

Addressing an organisational meeting at Barjala here, Saha said politics based on muscle power was not sustainable and that the BJP did not believe in such an approach.

He said the party’s objective was to win the TTAADC and Assembly constituencies currently held by the CPI(M) and the Congress by maintaining public trust through governance and development.

Saha said voters were closely observing the conduct of political parties and asserted that the BJP would not follow the political practices adopted by previous governments in the state.

He added that action should be taken against anyone found indulging in wrongdoing, irrespective of political affiliation.

Referring to the state’s past, the chief minister said earlier governments had witnessed frequent incidents of violence and unrest. He said the situation had changed in recent years and claimed that law and order had improved, enabling development activities to reach villages across the state.

Saha said the party’s workers played an important role in maintaining social harmony and discipline. He added that the BJP focused on development-based governance and avoided politics based on allegations or misinformation.

Highlighting governance at the national level, Saha said economic indicators had improved in recent years and claimed that sectors such as health and education had seen progress in Tripura after the BJP came to power.

He also said improved law and order had helped attract investment and that government recruitment was being carried out in a transparent manner.

BJP state president and Lok Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, party state secretary Ratan Ghosh, Sadar Rural district president Gouranga Bhowmik, former MLA Dilip Kumar Das, and other party leaders were present at the meeting.
