Agartala: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel apprehended eight individuals, including three Indian and five Bangladeshi nationals in Tripura.

They were nabbed when they were attempting to illegally cross the international border with Bangladesh near Sabroom in South Tripura district on Monday, BSF officials said.

The joint operation by BSF and Tripura Police took place at Jalkumbha, said a BSF official.

The three Indian nationals, all residents of Baikhora in South Tripura district, were apprehended while crossing the border into Bangladesh, he said.

The five Bangladeshi nationals, hailing from Jagannath village in Ramgarh, Khagracheri, were also detained during the operation.

BSF officials stated that a preliminary investigation into the incident is currently underway.
