Tripura: Woman and her lover arrested for murdering husband

Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a woman and her lover were arrested for murdering the former’s husband Kinkar Debnath (47) in Tripura's Khowai district.

The heinous crime came to the fore with the discovery of the husband’s body Karailong area, about 1.5 km away from his home, on July 19.

As Tripura police started their investigation they came to know that the wife, Purnima Debnath was having an extramarital affair with a real estate developer named Amit Ghosh.

When both of them were summoned in the case and interrogated, Purnima confessed to having hatched a plan with her lover Amit to get rid of the husband.

Consequently, on the night of July 18, Purnima and Amit strangulated Kinkar and threw his body in the Karailong area.

Purnima told the police that she got involved with Amit when the latter started to reconstruct their house.

Both the lovers are now in police custody.
