Tripura: Two held with 100 rounds of bullets on Deoghar Express

Agartala: A team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended two individuals and seized 100 live rounds of ammunition aboard the Deoghar Express at the Dharmanagar Railway Station in North Tripura.

The incident took place at Dharmanagar Railway Station in North Tripura, as the train made its way to Agartala.

Uttam Kumar Kalai, Officer-in-Charge of GRP at Dharmanagar, informed that the arrests were made in a surprise inspection.

"As the Deoghar Express approached Agartala, our team conducted a routine check and noticed two passengers acting suspiciously", he said." We detained them and, upon further investigation, discovered 100 live rounds of .22 calibre bullets in their possession," he stated.

The individuals were identified as Dipankar Sen and Prasenjit Das, who are maternal uncle and nephew, residents of Madhupur in Sepahijala District.

According to the police, they had sourced the ammunition from Dimapur, Nagaland, and were planning to sell the bullets to criminal elements.
