Agartala: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma accused the then Left Front government of exploiting the tribals for vote bank politics and slammed them for not working towards development.

Bikas made these remarks while inspecting the construction of an Eklavya School.

He said, “We want the development of our Janajati people and proper education for them. The CPI(M) has never worked for the Janajati. During their regime, they exploited us, deprived us of education, development, and everything else."

"Our government and Chief Minister Manik Saha always strive for the development and upliftment of Janajati people”, he said.

Bikas further told reporters that the present government is working for every section of the state's population.

“Our government also wants proper education for them. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha, we have received 18 schools in Janajati areas in Manu, Manikpur, Dumboor Nagar, especially in remote areas. Our Janajati people are poor and cannot access proper education from good schools in the city. That is why our government is establishing schools in remote areas,” he added.
