Guwahati: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly burnt alive by her sons after tying her to a tree at Khamarbari area under the jurisdiction of Champaknagar police station in West Tripura district late Saturday night.

During preliminary investigation, it has come to light that a family dispute could have resulted in the brutal murder of the mother by her own sons.

The deceased was living with her two sons after the death of her husband nearly 18 months ago with her third son staying away in state capital Agartala.
