Agartala: Tripura Police apprehended a total of 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including five children, in two separate incidents within Dhalai district.

Acting on intelligence input, the Gandacherra Police Station raided Mas Kumbhir Para and detained 11 Bangladeshi individuals, including three minors.

Police found travel tickets, Bangladeshi Covid vaccination documents, and Bangladeshi currency during the search.

Interrogation revealed they had entered India from Bangladesh through West Bengal roughly three years ago to find work. After several years, they reached Gandacherra to return to Bangladesh. However, authorities apprehended them before they could cross the border.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Md. Mamun Sardhar (29), Ruma Begam (25), Afsana Akter (22), and others.

In a separate operation, Tripura Police, collaborating with Government Railway Police, detained five Bangladeshi nationals, including two children, at Ambassa Railway Station. They were reportedly travelling to West Bengal.
