Tripura: One nabbed with Yaba tablets worth Rs 40 lakh

Agartala: Tripura Police apprehended a man on Tuesday and confiscated Yaba tablets valued at Rs 40 lakh during a search operation in Champaknagar, located in the West Tripura District.

West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Kiran Kumar, revealed that the arrest occurred at the Champaknagar checkpoint under Jirania Sub-division, following a tip-off from intelligence sources.

Kumar said, "We received credible information about an individual transporting a significant quantity of contraband. Acting swiftly, we intercepted the suspect's vehicle and, during a search, discovered 20,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 40 lakh."

"The driver, identified as Ranjit Das, 27, from Kadamtala in the North District, was taken into custody," Kumar said.

Further investigation is being carried out.
