Agartala: A 34-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a bear in North Tripura on Sunday evening.

According to reports, the man has been identified as Pramit Kumar Reang, a resident of the Tushaidian area of Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura.

He is fighting for his life following the bear attack on Sunday late evening.

Parimal Reang brother of the victim reported that the incident occurred around 5:30 PM while Pramit was cultivating his jhum field and later ventured into the forest to search for bamboo shoots.

Suddenly, a bear out of nowhere attacked him, inflicting severe injuries, particularly to his face.

His family was alerted that something was wrong after hearing him scream.

They rushed to his aid and rescued him from the paws of the bear.

The victim was immediately transported to the Kanchanpur Health Center.

However, due to insufficient treatment facilities, he was later transferred to Dharmanagar District Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Pramit is the sole breadwinner for his wife and three children, relying entirely on jhum cultivation for their livelihood.
