Tripura: Man held for sexually assaulting stepdaughter in Khowai

Agartala: The Tripura Police arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Champlai village, Khowai District.

Khowai Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pushan Kanti Majumder informed reporters that they received a complaint from the District Child Protection Unit regarding a minor girl who refused to return home after reporting the alleged sexual assault by her stepfather.

"We received a complaint about a 13-year-old girl who was unwilling to go home from school. She reported the issue to the Balika Mancha, leading to a complaint being filed with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) by the school", he added.

The official added, "Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with us. According to the complaint, the minor was subjected to repeated offences allegedly committed by her stepfather."

"Following this, personnel from Teliamura Police Station arrested the individual," he stated.
