Agartala: Left youth organisations, led by the SFI and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), have embarked on a two-week agitation across Tripura to demand jobs and combat drug addiction.

This announcement was made by the state secretary of DYFI, Nabarun Deb, while briefing the media on Tuesday (July 02).

He said that the agitation will feature various programs over the next 14 days across Tripura, including meetings, gatherings, marches, deputations, and mass deputations.

The movement aims to address several critical issues affecting the state, with a primary focus on job creation and drug addiction.

Nabarun said that the agitation is pushing for the completion of recruitment processes that have been pending for years.

“This includes the GRS exam conducted in 2019, as well as recruitment for various posts such as STGT and Group-D. The movement calls for immediate action to finalize these processes and provide employment to the youth”, he said.

He also criticized the Tripura government, accusing it of attempting to destroy the education infrastructure through systematic decisions.

The movement demands the restoration of the education system and improvements in essential services such as electricity and health across Tripura.

“Addressing the growing concern of drug addiction, the agitation calls for stringent measures against drug dealers and the dismantling of drug empires within the state. This includes taking action to prevent private appointments in government offices, which are seen as part of the problem,” he said.

The Left youth organisations have expressed their determination to sustain the movement for the full two weeks, aiming to draw attention to these pressing issues and pressuring the government to take immediate action.
