Agartala: Tripura Police have apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals in the Nandananagar area of Agartala city for illegal entry into the state.

According to a Tripura Police personnel from New Capital Complex Police Station, local residents tipped off the authorities about individuals exhibiting suspicious behaviour in the market.

Following this information, police raided the area and detained the suspects.

During interrogation, the individuals—identified as Abdul Kalam, Kamrul Jaman, Nabir Hossain, and Md. Jubayer—confessed to being from Bangladesh and admitted to their illegal entry into Tripura.

The suspects have been arrested and presented before the court, where the police have requested remand for further investigation.

Earlier the Border Security Force (BSF) and Meghalaya Police apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian facilitators at a checkpoint.

The operation was part of heightened security measures along the Indo-Bangladesh border due to the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh.

The apprehended individuals were handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
