Agartala: In a bid to provide sustainable income opportunities to unemployed indigenous youth within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the administration has launched the TIPRA HAM Loan Scheme.

At the scheme's launch, Royal Scion and former Tipra Motha Chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma announced that TTAADC would offer subsidies in partnership with Tripura Grameen Bank, providing loans at the lowest interest rates.

He explained that the TIPRA HAM Loan Scheme includes various financial initiatives designed to empower the indigenous Tiprasa community by making loans accessible and affordable across different sectors.

"The aim of this scheme is to promote socio-economic development, financial inclusion, and the overall well-being of the Tiprasa people. The Tipra Ham Auto loan is one such initiative," Pradyot said.

Elaborating on the scheme's objectives, he mentioned that the primary goal is to enhance mobility and support entrepreneurial ventures by offering auto loans for commercial purposes. This initiative seeks to provide sustainable income to unemployed indigenous youth within TTAADC areas, increase their wage-earning capacity, and contribute to the growth of the employment economy in district council areas.

"We want to encourage entrepreneurship and livelihood. To ensure transparency, we have launched an online portal where anyone interested in the loan can apply. This portal will be accessible in all Village Councils within TTAADC. Given the high unemployment rate in TTAADC, the administration has decided to offer auto loans at a lower cost and with a low interest rate. Beneficiaries will need to pay about 15% of the total loan amount," he told reporters.

Pradyot also emphasized the scheme's environmental aspect, stating that, in line with a Clean and Green Tripura, the loans would be available for electric autos (E-Auto). "Charging points will be installed in all houses of those who apply for the loan. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative. Our duty is to provide opportunities for people to become self-reliant and increase their earnings, and this policy is a step in that direction," he added.
