Tripura BSF rescues Indian workers stranded in Bangladesh
Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) stationed along the 856 km international border in Tripura successfully facilitated the return of at least 17 Indian workers who were stranded in violence-hit Bangladesh.
The workers, employed by AFCONS Infrastructure Pvt Ltd were engaged in the construction of a 52 km four-lane road from Akhaura to Kishoreganj in Bangladesh.
As unrest escalated in the region, the workers found themselves trapped at their camp in Ramrail, unable to secure safe passage back to India.

On the evening of August 7, Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, Inspector General of the Tripura Frontier BSF, received an urgent call for assistance.
The workers were en route to the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) from the Bangladesh side, and a request was made to the BSF to ensure their safe passage through the ICP during the night.
In response, the BSF swiftly established contact with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB). In a well-coordinated operation, both forces worked in unison to ensure the safe return of the Indian workers.

The BGB provided essential support, ensuring the workers' secure movement up to the ICP and facilitating their customs and immigration clearance.
Late that night, the workers were safely handed over to the BSF at the ICP Agartala.
