Tripura BJP denies electoral manipulation claims, calls it a tactic to confuse voters

Agartala: Tripura’s BJP has staunchly rebuffed allegations of election tampering, attributing them to the diminishing sway of the opposition.

BJP’s state president, Rajib Bhattacharya, asserted in a press briefing that such claims are a ploy to confuse voters, as the opposition struggles with waning support.

Bhattacharya underscored Tripura's commitment to upholding the integrity of elections, echoing the sentiment following the 2023 Assembly polls.

He noted the robust participation in the East (ST) parliamentary elections, where BJP’s Kriti Singh Debbarma contested amidst a festive ambience, drawing over 13 lakh voters and boasting a turnout of 79.55 per cent.

Despite challenges, including reports of voter queues extending beyond polling hours, particularly notable in Sabroom, Bhattacharya expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic voter engagement.

Addressing accusations of opposition misconduct, including attacks on polling agents and attempts to disrupt polling stations, Bhattacharya dismissed them as feeble attempts to undermine the electoral process.

He emphasized that such baseless claims only expose the opposition's faltering influence, evident throughout the election campaign.

Bhattacharya cited previous instances where the Election Commission upheld the integrity of elections despite pre-voting complaints from opposition quarters.

He highlighted the acknowledgement from opposition leaders regarding the peaceful conduct of the East Lok Sabha polls, asserting Tripura’s continued commitment to transparent and fair electoral practices.
