Aizawl: Three people, including a woman, have been arrested for possessing Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs. 2.95 crore in east Mizoram's Champhai district on Monday, police said in a statement.

During a random checking of vehicles at the Khankawn police check gate, personnel of state police, who were on duty, recovered 2 lakh tablets (22.35kg) of Methamphetamine from an auto-rickshaw, the statement said.

The driver of the auto-rickshaw Bualchhunga (40), a resident of Champhai's Dinthar locality was arrested on the spot for transporting the stimulant drugs, it said.

The seized Meth tablets worth Rs. 2.95 crore were concealed under cloth in two bags, it said.

The drugs were seized while being smuggled from Champhai town to Chhungte village, from where they were to be picked up by a maxicab, it said.

Interrogation of the driver led to the further arrest of two more accused identified as Lalrochhara (33) and Vanlalruati (46), both from Champhai's Vengthlang locality, the statement said.
