Manipur: Guv lauds state team to represent India in global wheelchair basketball tournament
Imphal: Representatives of the Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur, on Monday, called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, following their remarkable achievement as runners-up in the recently held National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament.
By virtue of the second spot, Manipur team qualifies for the upcoming international match in Thailand, a Raj Bhavan communique stated on Monday.
Wheelchair basketball provides an inclusive platform for athletes with verified permanent lower limb impairments to compete on a global stage, including the Paralympic Games. Eligible impairments may encompass conditions such as paraplegia, lower limb amputations, cerebral palsy, or polio.

The Manipur team put up an impressive performance and reached the finals, where they finished as runners-up to Maharashtra. Their achievement has paved the way for them to represent India at the upcoming international tournament in Thailand.
The governor congratulated the team on their dedication, sportsmanship, and determination, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence as they prepare to compete on the global stage
The World Wheelchair Basketball Championships are an elite international competition contested by the top men's and women's national teams from across the globe. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) governs the world championships, which take place every four years.
