Greater Noida is set to witness a major cricketing showcase as the Big Cricket League (BCL) returns with Season 2 from March 11 to March 22, 2026, at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium. The world’s first Pro-Am cricket league is steadily positioning itself as one of India’s most promising emerging tournaments, offering a competitive stage where international professionals and amateur cricketers compete side by side.

Over twelve days, the Uttar Pradesh city will become the centre of high-intensity Pro-Am cricket, drawing attention from players, franchises and fans across the country.

A Format That Is Changing the Domestic Landscape

The BCL has carved out a unique identity in India’s crowded cricket ecosystem. Unlike conventional leagues, it allows talented amateur players from diverse professional backgrounds to share the field with established international cricketers. It is a format built on performance, not pedigree.

Season 1 demonstrated that the concept has both sporting credibility and commercial appeal. Packed stands, competitive matches and strong viewer engagement helped validate the league’s model. Season 2 now aims to build on that momentum and expand its footprint.

For aspiring cricketers from across India including regions like the Northeast, where access to national platforms can often be limited such tournaments present valuable opportunities to break into mainstream competitive circuits.

Auction to Set the Tone

The player auction on February 16 is expected to be a key moment ahead of the tournament. Franchises will strategically assemble squads that combine international experience with fearless amateur talent. For many lesser-known players, auction day could mark the turning point of their cricketing journey.

Team composition and tactical balance are likely to be decisive factors, with management groups looking to create squads capable of sustaining consistency across the tournament window.

Star Names Add Weight

The inaugural season featured internationally recognised cricketers such as Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Herschelle Gibbs and Imran Tahir. Their participation not only elevated the competitive standard but also gave the league immediate credibility.

Season 2 is expected to attract additional international names, increasing both the quality of cricket and spectator interest. With higher stakes and stronger squads, the upcoming edition is likely to deliver more intense contests.

Strong Institutional Support

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has extended full support for the event. Preparations are underway to ensure smooth execution of the tournament at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium.

Prerna Singh, ACEO of GNIDA, said hosting the league reflects the city’s growing sporting ambitions.

“Greater Noida Authority actively supports initiatives that combine sporting excellence with regional advancement. Hosting Big Cricket League Season 2 at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium is a significant step toward positioning the city as a leading sports destination in the region,” she said.

League Leadership Confident of Growth

League Commissioner Dilip Vengsarkar reiterated the league’s broader vision.

“We are proud to bring Season 2 of the Big Cricket League to Uttar Pradesh, with the support of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA). As the world’s first Pro-Am cricket league, BCL is committed to building a professional platform where emerging amateur talent competes alongside established international cricketers. Uttar Pradesh’s strong focus on developing world-class sports infrastructure provides the ideal environment for this vision to thrive. Through this season, we aim to further strengthen the pathway for aspiring cricketers across the state turning ‘Ab SapneBanenge Haqeeqat’ into a tangible opportunity on the field,” he said.

Founder and President Rudra Pratap Singh described Season 2 as a significant milestone.

“Season 2 marks a defining milestone for the Big Cricket League. The support from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) reinforces our vision of building India’s most powerful Pro-Am cricket platform. With international stars joining hands with emerging amateur talent, this season will set new benchmarks in competitive cricket,” he stated.

Chief Patron Puneet Singh noted that the second season reflects strategic evolution.

“The response to Season 1 validated our model. Season 2 is not just an expansion it is an evolution. From the player auction on 16th February to the grand matches in March, every aspect of this season has been strategically elevated to deliver scale, quality and impact,” he said.

CEO and Co-Founder Annirudh Chauhan highlighted the league’s long-term roadmap.

“Season 2 represents scale, structure and serious cricketing ambition. With support from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), BCL is entering a new phase of growth. Our focus is not just on hosting matches, but on building a sustainable platform where global professionals and India’s rising amateur talent compete at the highest level,” he added.

A Growing Opportunity Platform

At a time when India’s cricket structure continues to evolve, the Big Cricket League is emerging as a promising avenue for skilled amateurs who have not followed the traditional pathway of state and national representation.

By offering a professionally managed, performance-driven environment, BCL is attempting to bridge the gap between untapped grassroots talent and the elite competitive stage.

As March 11 approaches, attention will increasingly shift to Greater Noida. For players, it represents opportunity. For fans, it promises competitive cricket. And for Indian domestic cricket, it signals the growth of a league that is steadily building its place in the national conversation.
