Gangtok: Indian academic achiever Anil Kumar Yadav has once again secured a place in the Limca Book of Records 2026 edition, marking his fourth entry and earning recognition under the prestigious World Record (WR) category.

Educated in Sikkim, Yadav is widely regarded as a lifelong learner whose extraordinary academic journey has drawn national attention. He has been consistently featured in multiple editions of the Limca Book of Records — 2016, 2020–22, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 — for holding the record for “Post Graduate Qualifications from Most Number of Universities” in India.

239 Academic Qualifications

As of February 2026, Yadav has amassed an exceptional 239 academic qualifications, a feat unmatched in the country. His credentials include 60 university qualifications earned from 28 universities across 20 States and Union Territories, 67 banking qualifications from the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), 13 UGC-NET certificates, 65 Coursera certificates and 34 additional miscellaneous certifications.

His academic portfolio spans undergraduate and postgraduate degrees — including multiple Master’s degrees and MBAs — as well as a Ph.D., demonstrating a sustained commitment to higher education across disciplines and institutions.

Recognised as a World Record (WR) Holder

In the 2026 edition, the Limca Book of Records has classified Yadav’s achievement under the World Record (WR) category for obtaining postgraduate qualifications from the most number of universities.

The WR classification signifies recognition at a global level within Limca’s official record framework, distinguishing it from national or regional benchmarks. According to record authorities, this designation represents the highest tier of validation within the Limca system.

It is noteworthy that Guinness World Records does not currently accept or certify records based on the number of academic qualifications or universities attended. The absence of such records from Guinness listings stems from its policy framework rather than any lack of merit or verification.

Recognition Beyond Limca

Apart from Limca, Yadav’s achievements have also been acknowledged by several other record-keeping bodies, including the India Book of Records, the Asia Book of Records and the Golden Book of World Records.

The Limca Book of Records remains India’s most authoritative and widely accepted record compendium, recognised by academic institutions, government bodies and media organisations. A World Record classification by Limca is regarded as a legitimate, verifiable and highly respected form of recognition within India’s record ecosystem.

With his latest entry in 2026, Anil Kumar Yadav reinforces his reputation as one of India’s most prolific academic record-holders, setting a benchmark in lifelong learning and multi-disciplinary education.
