The much-anticipated pre-election alliance between the SKM and the BJP for the Sikkim assembly elections has been officially called off.

GANGTOK: The much-anticipated pre-election alliance between the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the forthcoming Sikkim assembly elections has been officially called off.

This was confirmed by Sikkim BJP spokesperson Passang Sherpa.

Sikkim BJP president DR Thapa announced that the party has opted to contest the assembly elections in the state independently.

The delegation of the Sikkim BJP is expected to return to the state on Saturday (March 23), with intentions to nominate candidates for all assembly seats and the sole Lok Sabha constituency in the Himalayan state.

Additionally, Sikkim BJP chief DR Thapa disclosed that some of the saffron party’s candidates will be unveiled on Saturday (March 23) night, with the remaining names slated for announcement on March 24.
