GANGTOK: The Sikkim transport department announced plans, on Thursday (May 16), to roll out an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven traffic management system across the state, scheduled to commence operations from May 25.

The innovative system aims to modernize traffic management practices and enhance regulatory efficiency by automating document verification and detecting violations.

In an official statement, the Sikkim transport department highlighted the objective behind the initiative, stating, “With the aim of modernizing traffic management and improving the effectiveness and accuracy of traffic regulation, the Sikkim government is introducing an Artificial Intelligence-driven traffic management system.”

According to a notification issued by the department, “All vehicle owners (including government vehicles) are advised to ensure that all their vehicle documents are up to date.
