GANGTOK: The Sikkim high court has introduced a new policy allowing women employees of its registry to take menstrual leave for 2-3 days each month.

This move aims to support the well-being of female staff by acknowledging and accommodating their health needs.

According to an official notification, women employees must obtain a recommendation from the medical officer attached to the Sikkim high court to avail themselves of this leave.

The notification states, “Women employees in the high court registry may henceforth avail menstrual leave of 2-3 days in a month, provided they approach the medical officer attached to the high court first and obtain the latter’s recommendation for such leave.”

“Their leave account shall not be debited on availing such leave,” the Sikkim high court notification read.
