Guwahati: All the educational institutions falling within the boundaries of Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) will remain closed on June 10 for the swearing-in ceremony of PS Tamang as the chief minister of Sikkim.

The government of Sikkim has issued a circular regarding the same and stated, “In view of the security arrangements and restrictions of movement of vehicles, it has been directed that all the government and private schools, colleges and academic institutions falling with the boundaries of Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) shall remain closed on June 10, 2024.”

Earlier the swearing-in ceremony was supposed to happen on June 9, but it had to be postponed by a day as Tamang will be visiting Delhi on Sunday to attend Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister for a third term.

The oath-taking ceremony for Tamang and his council of ministers will now be held on June 10 at Paljor Stadium at Gangtok in Sikkim.

In the legislature party meeting, the newly elected SKM MLAs unanimously adopted a resolution to support Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.

“We congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and the NDA on the remarkable victory in the Lok Sabha elections. The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) will support the NDA for the development and prosperity of our country,” Tamang stated.
