GANGTOK: Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay has accused former India football captain and politician from the Northeast state of creating an illegal voters’ list.

CM Tamang emphasized that his government played no part in this alleged fabrication, underscoring that only legitimate citizens of Sikkim have the right to vote.

The Sikkim chief minister criticized Bhaichung Bhutia's electoral track record, citing multiple defeats across various constituencies.

While acknowledging Bhutia's contributions to sports infrastructure, including the completion of the Bhaichung Stadium, a project initiated by the previous administration, Tamang expressed disappointment over Bhutia's opposition to initiatives like the Sikkim Premier League aimed at nurturing young football talent.

Furthermore, Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang highlighted Bhaichung Bhutia’s past criticisms of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and its leader, Pawan Chamling, suggesting a lack of ideological consistency in Bhutia’s political endeavours.
