Senior Assistant of Food & Civil Supplies Office caught accepting bribe in Assam

Guwahati: Continuing with its strict vigilance against corruption, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption in Assam apprehended Gurupad Das, Senior Assistant at the Office of the Superintendent of Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Bokajan, District Karbi Anglong.

The accused Das was caught red-handed within the premises of his office as he accepted a bribe demanded from a complainant.

The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam posted this achievement on their X handle and wrote, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed Gurupad Das, Sr. Asstt. of O/O the Supdt. of Food& Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bokajan, Dist- Karbi Anglong, after he accepted the demanded bribe from the complainant in the office, for renewal of licence.”

The bribe was solicited in exchange for facilitating the renewal of a license.

This incident underscores another of numerous efforts to combat corruption within government institutions in the region.
