Santosh Trophy: Mizoram holds defending champions Karnataka to a 2-2 draw

Guwahati: In a specimen of great defensive as well as offensive display of football, the Mizoram team held the defending Champions Karnataka to a 2-2 draw in the final round of the Santosh Trophy match.

The team from Mizoram was all set to win the match and pocket all three points after goals from MS Dwangliana in the 13th minute and MC Malsawmzuala in the 47th minute putting the team two goals ahead of the defending champions.

But Karnataka came back strongly in the second half of the match and scored two quick goals in the 67^th and 69^th minute to level it at 2-2.

In the final quarter of the match both the teams were more inclined towards not conceding any goals and took a more defensive approach and the score line remained the same after the final hooter of the 90^th minute.

This draw will be a major boost for the Mizoram team.
