Rajnath Singh to visit Assam, to address mega rally in Barpeta

GUWAHATI: Union defence minister Rajnath Singh will visit the Northeast state of Assam on February 29.

According to reports, Rajnath Singh will address a mega rally at Barpeta in Assam.

Assam BJP president Bhabesh Kalita told news agency ANI on Tuesday (February 13) that preparations are underway for Singh’s visit.

“We are preparing for his (Rajnath Singh) visit. The union defence minister will address a mega rally in Barpeta parliamentary constituency,” said Bhabesh Kalita.

Kalita further said that a BJP karyakartas sanmilan of Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency will be held on February 29.

Furthermore, Assam BJP chief Bhabesh Kalita informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to visit the state.

However, the schedule of the PM’s visit has not been finalised yet, the Assam BJP president said.

"The Prime Minister may visit Assam again before the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll dates," Kalita said.
