Police seize truck full of "illegal" liquor near Assam-Bengal border

Guwahati: A police team in Assam seized a significant amount of illegal liquor being transported on National Highway 31.

The raid took place near Srirampur, located on the Assam-Bengal border within the Gosaigaon subdivision, Kokrajhar.

Acting on routine patrol duties, officers from the Shimultapu police station intercepted a 12-wheeler truck (registration number MP 20 GA 6795) carrying a substantial quantity of Arunachal liquor.

Both the driver and the handyman on board were detained for questioning.

The individuals have been identified as Harendra Prasad Singh (38) from Jehanabad district in Bihar and Bibhas Kumar (37) from Vaishali district.

A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 70 cartons of liquor, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.5 lakh.
