Police seize 800 litres of illicit liquor in Manipur

Imphal: Around 800 litres of locally produced illicit liquor, known as "Yu," was confiscated by police from a young man in Bijoypur Village along NH-102, which connects Imphal to Moreh in Manipur, on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of police officers from Pallel Police Station and Kakching commando forces stopped a vehicle for inspection at around 7:00 AM on Sunday in Bijoypur village.

Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered roughly 800 litres of Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor concealed inside water tanks on the vehicle's back in 40 transparent polythene bags.

Heikrujam Alexander Singh (25), a resident of Andro Machengpat in Imphal East district was apprehended in connection with the illegal possession of stimulant items.

The arrested individual and the seized liquor have been turned over to excise officials for further legal action, according to the police.
