Guwahati: Patanjali Ayurved, the ayurvedic company co-founded by Baba Ramdev, has apologized to the Supreme Court for making misleading claims about the medicinal benefits of its products.

The apology comes after the court threatened contempt proceedings against Patanjali for running advertisements that contradicted assurances made in November 2023.

In an affidavit filed with the court, Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurved, expressed regret for the misleading ads and pledged to ensure such violations don't occur again.

He claimed that Patanjali was commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle through ayurvedic products but argued that current regulations on advertising such products are outdated.

The Supreme Court is currently hearing a case filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) accusing Ramdev of launching a smear campaign against modern medicine and the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
