SHILLONG: Meghalaya cabinet minister and NPP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh formally submitted her nomination papers to contest in the elections to the Shillong Lok Sabha seat on Friday (March 22).

Ampareen Lyngdoh submitted her nomination papers to the returning officer for Shillong parliamentary seat in Meghalaya.

Accompanied by NPP leaders, including Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, Ampareen Lyngdoh embarked on a procession from her residence in Laitumkhrah in Shillong.

Ampareen Lyngdoh first paid homage at the bust of her late father, Peter G Marbaniang, who served as a Lok Sabha MP from 1989 to 1996, seeking his blessings.

Subsequently, they proceeded to the Meghalaya NPP head office and then to the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner’s office located in Shillong.

"In filing my nomination for the Shillong Lok Sabha constituency, I commit to prioritize the prosperity of our state and the empowerment of every citizen," Lyngdoh said.

She added: "It is time to showcase the formidable capabilities and leadership of women in Meghalaya."
